Flying & Latching
Pteranodon Flight Tutorial
SPACEBAR
Launch yourself into the air. Hold spacebar for lift off. If you wish to fly higher continue to hold Space until you reach your desired altitude. Spacebar also increases altitude if you wish to go higher into the air.
CTRL
Does a Nose Dive make sure you pull up quickly or it could mean instant death when you hit the ground.
W Key + Camera Movement
Gradual descent downward or Level flying
WASD
Directional flying/movement
Z Key (Descend Angle)
Slows you down drastically and almost hovers in place and descends at an angle. Held for too long could cause you to fall.
Z Key + Ctrl (Descend Down)
Slowly descend straight downward. Held too long will trigger a falling animation.
SHIFT
Increases Flight Speed or Sprint Speed. When flying only hold Shift key for 1-2 seconds before releasing the speed boost remains for a short time and saves stamina.
SHIFT + SPACEBAR
A faster ascending speed that consumes less stamina overtime to achieve a higher altitude.
Flying Tips
You can fly with a Head Fracture & Body Fracture but not a Leg Fracture
You can not take off from a mudpit (wallowing pit)
You can fly after wallowing if covered in mud
You can eat while latched to a tree.
PTERANODON LATCHING TUTORIAL
Latching onto trees and rocks is possible with a Ptera. Does require a little finesse in certain situations. Always give yourself space to work if needed. Bone breaking high possibility if you miss and hit the tree/rock instead. As shown in the video above you will fly directly towards a tree/rock and line yourself up. Then as you near the tree Hold Z while staying lined up as you are about to hit the tree hold Right Click and you will latch on. Make sure you are high on the tree though as utahs can jump up and kill you!
Note: You can fly into trees, dinosaurs, and other objects. This may cause you to break your bones or even death.
Be aware when flying near solid objects. Not all surfaces are latch-able. If another ptera tries to latch in or near the spot you are latched it will fling them off the tree. Flying close to the water can result in death while fishing. Use space bar to maintain altitude above the water so you do not fall in
LINE UP TO THE OBJECT IF YOU THINK YOU WILL MISS THEN FLY BACK AROUND TO AVOID A BROKEN BONE.
AS YOU GET CLOSING HOLD Z TO SLOW DOWN AND REMAIN LINED UP TO THE TREE.
